WIP Wednesday!

You know quilting is taking over your life when you dream of quilt layouts!  I awoke this morning with an idea in my head for the quilt that is giving me the most trouble, Mom’s Quilt.  Previously, it was going to be a double-nine patch, but this more than two-year-old UFO was not sitting right.  So, now it will be a Irish Chain, but I wanted to add a little something to it.

Here are the completed blocks:

They are only 4.5 inches, so it’s going to take a few more to complete the queen size top I had in mine.

Here they are laid out in an Irish Chain:

The idea that popped into my head this morning will need to be sketched out.  I hope to have it well under way by next WIP Wednesday.  My plan is to have this completed by the next quilt guild meeting, June 28th.  That’s the plan, at least!

Also in progress this week is a baby girl quilt.  This is a surprise for someone, and I want to get it finished quickly, so it’s going to be a simple snowball block with pinks and greens.

Here’s the first block:

And finally finished this week are the curtain pillows!  (They were made from scraps off hemmed curtains.)

I love how they turned out; now I just need some new chairs to put them on, for a nice sitting spot by our front window.

Last, but not least, is a new project called Scouting Quilt.  My friend found these panels at the LQS and we quickly snapped them up:

She bought three panels and I bought two. Our boys are in the same Boy Scout troop.  While there isn’t an exact plan for it yet, we’re both excited about this fabric.  The shop also had several complementary fabrics, but I need to figure out a plan before purchasing anything else.

And that’s what is in progress this week!

Coming up are:

Baby boy quilt — still looking for the right fabric

Wall hanging for friends — still in planning stage

Now I’m off to admire other quilting WIPs!

Thanks, Tanya! That quilt has spent a long time on my UFO shelf, so it feels good to finally get it moving along.

Thanks, Kelly! I think I’ve finally figured out something interesting to do with them. More in a couple days… :)
