Weekly Update: Paper Piecing Success

If you missed the comedy act that was my first try at paper piecing last week, you might not understand why this little block makes me so happy:

Paper Piecing Success!

Paper Piecing Success!

And with this new skill, I can confidently start working on the paper pieced star from Fresh Lemons Quilts that was chosen for the block of the month by Elvy Crafts for the Simply Solids bee.

Planning, pulling, learning...

Oh my — that snippet of the April block is really striking! And I love the brownish blue color scheme of your HST quilt!

Hi Sarah! Thank you for stopping by and for the compliments! Check out my post for today for the whole April block. I hope to find some backing fabric for the HST’s soon. Thanks again!

You’re doing fantastic so far! I’ve read through so many tutorials for paper piecing and finally found one that made sense for me: http://sewhooked.com/2008/10/28/paper-piecing-step-by-step/

Thanks, Renee! I checked out that link and you are right, it is very straight-forward and has a ton of pictures. Thanks for the resource!

Your paper piecing looks great, and your wall hanging is looking awesome! As long as I have the simple paper piecing with just a few straightforward pieces, I’m good. Just couldn’t get the hang of the scrappy paper piecing :/

Your paper piecing looks lovely! The piece with the solid triangles is stunning!
