Quilt Market Decompress

Thanks to fellow Corvallis Modern Quilt Guild member, Caroline Press at Trillium Design, I was able to check out Quilt Market in Portland this year.  I am still decompressing from that whirlwind weekend!  So many people to meet, quilts to admire, fabrics to drool over, and evening events to enjoy.

Before we went to the Market on Friday, we went to the Portland Modern Quilt Guild’s meeting on Thursday night.  Not only was Alissa Haight Carlton speaking about the Modern Quilt Guild changes, but Jacquie Gering was speaking!  Even if I could not have gone to Quilt Market, I would have come to Portland for that meeting.  The Portland Guild made us feel so welcome with reserved, front-fow seats.  So, the pictures I have of Jacquie and her quilts are a little wonky… they were just right in front of our faces and sometimes we couldn’t even get the whole quilt in the picture.  Not that I am complaining at all!

Some of my favorite highlights from Market were:

1) Walking through those doors with my badge!

2) Meeting long-admired quilters — everyone from Angela Walters, Tula Pink, Allison Glass, Monica Solorio-Snow, Jacquie Gering, Alissa Haight Carlton… the list goes on and on!

3) Meeting new quilt friends, especially those whose inspiring blogs I have read over the last year.

But how does one sum up so much into mere words?  The convention floor was so PACKED with booths it was mind-boggling.  We frequently had to stop and figure out which way we had come from and which way we needed to go.

So, instead of writing words, I’m just going to post some pictures.  Enjoy!
